These days more and more individuals are looking to become non-smokers. The rate its going at the moment on average 240,000 people a year in the UK alone are putting down a cigarette for the final time. Thoughts and behaviours around smoking are embedded within the subconscious part of the mind. The part that’s most difficult to change with conscious thought alone. To change an often long-lasting habit in hypnotherapy we work on lowering levels of general stress and anxiety in order to see our lives in a uniquely different and progressive way.
Each person has their own unique smoking habits. Through treatment we take a very personalised approach in order to help you understand how the smoking habit still works through you, even when your conscious mind wants to quit.
We look at the fallacies of smoking, the internal propaganda which keeps you going back. You’ll learn how to spot these and how to deal with them effectively. Stopping smoking can be either more or less challenging for some and that’s why there are two treatment plans it will be helpful for you to read though and understand before making a commitment.
One session smoking cessation
During this one-off double length session you will learn why you have conflicting messages surrounding smoking and where they come from. Why your conscious thoughts about quitting often aren’t enough to kick the habit. We will talk in detail through what smoking is like for you. The reasons you smoke, what you like or dislike about it and what you can see yourself doing instead. The reasons why the smoking habit – for some – is so hard to kick and what can be done about it. You will learn research evidence we know about the brain as well as facts on smoking which combine together giving you a comprehensive understanding of the habit.
This will be followed by guided trance work which will reinforce what’s been said. You will be supplied with either a self-hypnosis relaxation CD or download in which you are recommended to listen to for least a week after the session comes to a close and for as long as you may like.
This session is reserved for those of you who are highly motivated and not experiencing stresses and anxieties in daily life but would just like that edge to kick the habit.
Five session smoking cessation
The number of sessions in this bundle can be extended if needed, depending on individual levels of stress and anxiety. The idea behind this is that underlying problems need to be dealt with first and foremost, only then can you concentrate on such an all or nothing habit. Each stage is as important as the next, so being able to accept that the habit is going to take some time to stop is the first step towards freeing yourself.
During these sessions we will deal with ‘stress bucket emptying’ and lowing those general levels of anxiety. This will be addressed by using a combination of techniques, teaching you ways in which the brain works and how to be in control of your anxieties and deal with stresses effectively. You will learn coping tools and engage in weekly goal setting. Once these levels are low enough and you feel back within your control then we can tackle the smoking habit through the double-length session explained above.
