Addictions come in many forms and sizes. They can range from external behaviours such as gaming, gambling, stealing to various psychoactive (mind altering) substances such as alcohol and cocaine. Addictions are both psychological and behavioural, with a very few being physical in nature. The characteristic nature of addiction is craving, compulsion and an inability to stop using or engaging in a behaviour even when it is maladaptive or damaging towards the person and/or their close circle of people.
As with any treatment in hypnotherapy there can be seen varying degrees of success. Commitment and a dedication to improve are more important here than in any other treatment programme. With a strong attitude and a willingness to engage with the process hypnosis is what will help you bring back the power of the mind to kick the habit.
Hypnotherapy is often used in conjunction with other types of therapy to form the basis of treatment for an addiction. Before starting treatment advice will be given to always consult your doctor first and through our treatment plan I will liaise with your doctor. Providing updates on your progress so that your doctor track your successes. Hypnotherapy can enhance the effectiveness of other treatments by giving you the control back in your life that you need to move on.
During treatment you can expect weekly goal setting working towards that positive and healthy version of you, that you know you can be. A number of different approaches will be used to help you learn and adapt to new ways of thinking and being. Establishing the most important aspects of your life and figuring out where you want to be. Hypnosis during sessions will help in making manifest those wishes and desires which we will talk about during our sessions.
